-
Get your boiler servicedGetting your boiler serviced can help improve the efficiency as it will remove any deposits in the heat exchanger that maybe restricting the efficiency of the boiler. Also, if you have a magnetic filter on the system, getting this cleaned will improve the circulation of the system. If this is something you would like us to do, please feel free to contact us.

Closing the curtains at nightClosing your curtains at night will help keep the heat in the room especially on colder nights. This is a very simple but effective method of retaining heat and stopping it escaping through the windows.
-
Install Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs)Replacing old manual radiator valves for thermostatic radiator valves will give you better temperature control of all the rooms that have radiators. This will allow you to turn radiators off or on low (for example unused rooms) or reduce the temperature of bedroom radiators while still keeping the living areas nice and toasty. Please contact us if you are interested in upgrading your radiator valves.
-
Upgrading to Smart ControlsReplacing an old mechanical thermostat with a new smart control will give you a more accurate temperature reading along with more flexible control. If you leave the house and forget you have left the heating on, you can easily use your smart phone or tablet to turn this off remotely. This means you are only using the heating if and when it's needed, plus it has the added benefit of not having to get up off the sofa to turn the heating on. If this is something you would like us to do, please feel free to contact us.
-
Power Flushing your systemA powerflush is a great way of removing sludge build up within your central system. Removing the sludge will result in a more even heat being emitted from your radiators. This in turn will heat up the room more efficiently, whilst also allowing better circulation of the water, meaning it will get to your radiators quicker and hotter. If this is something you would like to discuss please feel free to contact us.
-
Turn your thermostat down by 1 degreeTurning your room thermostat down by just 1 degree can make a big difference and you probably would not notice the change in temperature. According to the Energy Saving Trust, going from 20°C to 19°C (for example) can cut your heating bill by 10%. For the average 3-bed house, that could be up to £145 every year!

Move your furniture away from radiatorsSofas, beds and other large furniture items can restrict the heat from the radiators. Moving them just 1 or 2 inches away from a radiator can improve the air circulation, allowing the heat to warm up the room more effectively and make it lovely and cosy in those winter months.
